pretty woman

I turned on the tv this evening after a workout, and Pretty Woman and Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade were both on at the same time! Unbelievable right??? Unfortunately, it was like the last 15 minutes of Indiana Jones so I was sorta bummed about that. Oh yeah Bug's Life is on too. Which is my favorite Pixar movie. The caterpillar is my favorite. Tuck & Roll are pretty funny too. When I was little I used to make the rolly poleys roll up (whether they liked it or not!), and then I'd flick them. I'd never kill them, though I imagine it didn't feel very good to be flicked all the way across the sidewalk.

I found something else I want to do when I graduate. I want to make clothes. Not like... extravagant fancy things. Just sort of...revamping clothes I already have. Like this chick did with this shirt. I think that I could be good at it. Of course I'd have to start small. Just like the shirt. It seems pretty simple. But someday, maybe I could make something like this:

an over-sized shirt made into a romper! sooo cute!
I may have to go to DI soon to check out the over-sized t-shirt selection so I can start practicing. Ha! I probably need a sewing machine though huh... Guess that's why I'm waiting till after I graduate to do all these things.

Speaking of graduation though, I just went over my graduation plan today and it's all set. I only need 4 more classes and I'm DONE! It's seriously so exciting! I have such a good feeling :) I only have to take 10 credits next semester. I'll probably take a joke class though since I technically have to be full-time and all. Which means I'll more than likely take a couple exercise classes or an art class. I'm leaning more towards the art class though. Or... maybe I'll take a sewing class! That would be tight. Right now, I'm taking fly fishing, canoeing, experiential education/adventure challenge, and persuasion. All are required. I wanted to take rock climbing, but it wouldn't fit into my schedule. Maybe when I move to Colorado I'll take a class.

Anyway, can't wait to graduate. :)

Easy A.

Well. Obviously, since you're seeing this picture it means I probably just saw the movie. Well. That is true. I saw it last night annnnd it was SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD! Ohmygoodness I absolutely loved it! It was definitely not what I expected at all, and everyone in it did fantastic. I really would see it again. and maybe even again after that. This movie was really the highlight of my weekend. Butttttt lucky for you guys, my life isn't all that boring and I do have other stories for you...

I'm gonna tell you about the boring stuff first though because I know some of you are wondering about my schooling and everything. WELL. It's realllly hard. But I'm surviving! Which is always comforting. And my current definition of surviving is that I am completing all my assignments, doing as much of the reading I can handle, and I'm NOT texting in class! (I know... seriously a miracle.) Oh and in my Recreation Leadership class on friday, this REAL LIFE mountain came into my class! He really is a mountain man. I feel bad, cuz he gave a really great speech, but I don't remember his name. But he had a really crazy beard, a hat, a bandana, all these crazy tools, a vest, I mean.... he was legit. It was rad. Okay so now that the school part is over....

Some of you know (but others don't, mostly because they would fear for my safety), I just bought a longboard. I know. Crazy. Sorta. I've never actually "skated" a day in my life, until maybe march? A friend of mine taught me to longboard. I've always wanted to learn how, and I finally did! And then a couple weeks ago, I had a short-lived addiction to ebay, and I decided I would buy a longboard. Because, let's be honest, I wouldn't get better any other way! It's sat against my wall for a little over a week now, and I kept looking at it thinking "hey i should prolly take her out and try riding..." but then I wouldn't. Well. I finally did. And those of you who know me well, know that I don't always have the greatest coordination and balance. Haha. Yesterday (saturday), I rode my longboard to the gas station to get one of those cheap 44 oz drinks (Horkleys!). I don't even think I thought about how I would get back with it...But, I'm sitting here now, and I can honestly tell you, I am uninjured. Aside from a couple of scrapes on my ankles where in between riding and walking, the board hit them and stuff. Ohhh... and. This is really sad guys. On a portion of my journey back (I made it to the gas station with no problem at all!), I sorta slipped at little tiny bit and I dropped my coke. Ughhhh!! It was so awful. Coke was alllll over the sidewalk. And people were up ahead and saw it, so when I rode up their direction they all said stuff like "hey sorry about your coke" and "smooth move" and stuff. Ha. So embarrassing. Whatever. I'm getting better.

What else. OH! So guessss what. Our school brought this pseudo-ABBA band here to put on a concert! And me and Melanie went! AHHH! It was sooooooooooooo MUCH FUN! I loveloveloved it! We danced in the aisles and danced in our seats and sang all the songs! It was so great! I lost my voice actually. Haha.

Welll... that was pretty much my weekend. Except for the part where I watched the Broncos KILL the Seahawks today. AMAZING. Hopefully my fantasy team did well. Haha.

The Last Song

Okay ummm wow.

I just got home from the movies about ten minutes ago. I saw "The Last Song". That other cheesy looking chick flick based off the book by Nicholas Sparks. Yes, another one. I think he's on a roll. This is like number 3 or something in 2 years. Way to go, Nick.

I must say, I was very impressed. In an almost surprising way, too. I don't actually like Mr. Sparks' books. Some reasons being that they are set in the same state every time, and they are pretty predictable. This movie, was a little predictable (some parts made me feel like I was watching the Notebook again), but it really blew me out of the water. I bawled my eyes out. For real. If I cry in movies, I can usually hold it back for a good while and sometimes make it out of the theater without shedding a tear. This time, I wasn't so lucky. There was a point where I reached the maximum build-up (where your lumpy throat has reached its lumpy limit and your eyes are filled to the very brim with that salty solution) and I just said to myself, "Just accept it, Rachael. Let it come." At that point, tears just gushed out like little rivers all the way down my face. I didn't even bother wiping them off, because they just kept on coming! I think my throat is still a little sore from the lumpiness! Sometimes the tears would subside, and then another emotional part (don't wanna give anything away!) would come and there they'd go again.. it was a little ridiculous honestly. It was seriously all I could do to not gasp and wheeze and whimper, too. I can't believe I reached that point. All because of a ex-Disney star. Well done , Miley Cyrus. I applaud you.
